Ororo Soft Shell Heated Jacket Review

Product Features

Watch the video review that goes in details about Ororo Heated Jacket

Heated Soft Shell Jacket for All Seasons

First of all, you should know that this heated jacket is made with a heating system to protect you from the cold, especially in winter days. In fact, you can carry it with you whenever you need heat, regardless of the season.

The material from which the jacket is made is soft and comfortable, and I should not forget to say that it also offers protection from wind and rain. This makes the jacket ideal for wearing on any occasion such as cold winters, rainy and fresh springs, windy and cold late autumn.

So thanks to the quality material and heating elements, the Ororo heated jacket will keep you warm always. In addition, it does not weigh much, in fact, it is quite light and flexible to wear compared to some heavier and stiffer jackets.

Comfortable and Flexible Design

Although the outer shell of the jacket is soft, it is very durable and perfect for many outdoor adventures such as hiking, hunting, camping in the mountains, fishing, and many other outdoor activities.

As I said, the exterior material is wind-resistant and water-resistant, which gives you excellent protection from the elements. An amazing thing about this jacket that I personally like is the detachable hood that protects your head from external influences such as wind, cold, and rain.

And not only does this Ororo heated jacket keep you warm and protected from external influences, but it also looks nice and stylish and fits your body well, which is also a very important feature. The jacket can be found in shades of blue and black.

Quality Multilayer Polyester Construction

The main fabric used to make this jacket is 100% polyester. This type of synthetic fabric is ideal for processing and obtaining different types of fabrics. A characteristic feature of this jacket is that it uses a multi-layered design made of polyester to provide additional protection.

But to be realistic, this Ororo jacket with a soft-shell does not offer maximum rain protection. If you really want to have a heated jacket that offers maximum rain protection, the best choice for you is a jacket with a hard outer shell like Milwaukee M12 Heated Jacket. On the other hand, jackets with a hard outer shell are less breathable and comfortable.

While in this Ororo jacket you have moderate protection from rain and wind and at the same time it offers excellent breathing, warmth, and flexibility, and most importantly it is designed to be worn all year round.

A good feature of the outer soft-shell is that it allows the evaporation from your body to easily escape out. So when you have outdoor activities, this jacket reduces the moisture from sweating on your body and makes you feel dry and comfortable. It is also important to know that the fabric of the outer shell in combination with a layer of fleece offers perfect heat retention in very cold moments.

Multiple Zones of Heating

A very important thing about a heated jacket is where and how the heating elements are placed to provide ideal body heating. With this heated jacket from Ororo, we have three areas where the heating elements are placed. The first heating element, which is the largest, covers the area of the upper and middle parts of the back. The other two heating elements are placed on either side of the zipper in the chest area.

These heating elements are made of carbon fiber so they are much lighter, firmer, and more flexible. You don’t have to worry too much about whether they will be damaged or not. As you can see, these heating elements cover the three main zones of your body, such as the left and right sides of your chest and the upper part of your back.

However, it would be nice to have heating elements in the lower front area, more precisely in the area of your pockets. It is normal in the winter when the outside temperatures are very low; your hands are most exposed to the cold.

So by placing smaller heating elements in these areas, you will be able to warm your hands from time to time in your jacket pockets. Also, another part of the body that is very exposed to external influences is the neck. So, it would be great if there was a small heating element in the area of the collar like the Dewalt 20 Volt heated jacket.

Adjustable Heat Settings

The heating system embedded in the Ororo heated jacket offers top and long-lasting performance, saves energy, and most importantly is easy to use. As with most heated jackets, this jacket offers three different heating modes: low, medium, and high.

  • The low operating mode allows heating at a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit (about 37.7 Celsius)
  • The medium mode offers you a temperature of 113 degrees Fahrenheit (about 45 Celsius)
  • And the highest heating mode is used for extreme conditions which it delivers a heat of 131 Fahrenheit (about 55 Celsius)

In addition to these three heating modes, you also have an additional pre-heating mode available. So before you go out, it is good for you can preheat your jacket to get faster and more efficient optimal heating of your body in the winter. This is really more than enough even for sub-zero temperatures.

Good to know: Before each use of the jacket, make sure that the battery is fully charged.

4 Pockets for Your Belongings

To keep all of your necessary things with you, the Ororo jacket has 4 pockets. First, you have a chest pocket on the left side with a zipper which is specially made for your cell phone. Then you have two side pockets down the waist area, but I am surprised they don’t feature zippers. Only the women’s version of the Ororo heated jacket has zippers on the side pockets.

Also, there is one more pocket with zipper on the inside which is on the left side all the way down and that pocket is especially intended for the battery.

Long-Lasting Battery

To make the heating system work perfectly, it is powered by a Lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of 4400 mAh. This battery is housed in a specially designed battery pocket located in the corner of the front bottom inside the jacket.

Its size is not very large and its basic weight is about 7 ounces (about 198.4 grams). It is not bulky and does not cause you much trouble when moving or doing anything. The battery life of a single charge will depend on which heating setting you use and how long. For all three heating modes it looks like this:

  • In the lowest mode, the battery is capable of delivering energy to your jacket for a maximum of 10 to 12 hours.
  • In medium mode, battery life will be reduced to about 6 to 7 hours.
  • While in the highest heating mode, you will get a maximum of 3 to 4 hours of battery power for your jacket’s heating system.

To charge this battery you will receive a standard charger (marked as 7.4 CE) which comes along with the battery and heated jacket. This charger has an output voltage in the range of 100-240 volts, which means it can be used freely without any problems in the US and European power networks.

But, the battery pack has one small downside; it takes at least 8 hours to fully charge. So before you use the jacket, you need to check and make sure that the battery is fully charged very early. But I recommend you to get another extra battery for more convenient use of the Ororo heated jacket. Normally, the battery can be purchased separately.

The control system for switching on the heating elements to work in the appropriate mode is placed on the left side up in the chest area just above the logo. In fact, it is only one button and by pressing, you select the required heating mode.

The Power On/Off Button

This button has a built-in LED which, depending on which heating mode we choose, will illuminate a different color. The way to handle and determine the required heating mode with this button is very simple.

First, to turn on the jacket, you just press and hold the button. At that point, the button will start to glow red, which means that the high heating mode is currently on.

If you press the button again, instead of red, the button will start to light white, which indicates the middle mode, and if you press the button again, it will start to glow blue, in fact, this is the lowest heating mode.

Now, if you want to turn off the jacket so that it doesn’t heat up anymore, all you have to do is press and hold the button for a while and it will stop glowing, which means you have turned off the heating system on the jacket.

Easy to Wash

You can easily wash the jacket by hand with any regular detergent. During manual washing, be sure not to twist or squeeze the jacket so as not to damage the heating elements in the jacket.

Also, good information for you is that this Ororo heated jacket can be washed in the washing machine. But you must first remove the battery because it is not waterproof and can be completely damaged. When washing the jacket in the washing machine, a special washing bag should be used and it is recommended to use the cold water washing option.

For Men and Women

Good news for everyone. These Ororo heated jackets are available for all men, women, and also teenagers.

And even better is that these Ororo jackets are unisex, which means they can be worn by both sexes. Only if the size of the person who wants to wear the jacket fits then there should be no problem at all.

Otherwise, this Ororo jacket can be found in several different sizes for both sexes such as:

  • Male sizes: Small, Medium, Large, X-Large, XX-Large and 3X-Large
  • Female sizes: Small, Medium, Large, X-Large and XX-Large

Charging Your Smartphone

One very useful thing about the battery of this Ororo heated jacket is the extra USB charging port. This is very useful especially for the huge number of Smartphone users.

This is really a lifesaver if you are stuck somewhere far away and your Smartphone’s battery is running low. The lithium-ion 4400 mAh battery pack will be of great help to you at that time.

But you should know that with each use of the battery pack for your Smartphone, you drain the battery, which reduces its capacity. This means that the duration of heat delivery from the jacket will be drastically reduced.

What Comes with the Ororo Heated Jacket?

  • 1 nice little storage bag
  • 1 user manual
  • The Ororo heated jacket
  • 1 USB-C charger with the input voltage in a range of 100-240V
  • 1 Lithium-Ion 4400 mAh, 7.4V Battery pack

My Conclusion

With all that being said in this Ororo heated jacket review it is obvious that this is a heated jacket that really offers great quality, it’s lightweight and can be worn on any occasion. It offers excellent protection from external weather conditions whenever you wear it and most importantly the jacket is very affordable. In fact, the Ororo heated jacket offers great value for a really reasonable price.

But if you like that this warmed jacket somehow doesn’t meet your needs, you can take a look at the Bosch 12-Volt lithium-ion soft-shell heated jacket whose price is a shade higher and offers really amazing performance.
